In Spirit and in Truth

This may seem like a tall order to do…or, to some, it may seem like something so simple… the fact is… to truly worship… these two aspects are needed to do so genuinely.

First of all… to worship in spirit…

How do we define what worship is? The dictionary describes it as having reverence, or by showing the act of love and respect for an object or being. With this being said, how many feel that their personal time of “worship” to the almighty God includes that?

When you worship, how much reverence do you give to the Lord Almighty, the Creator of the universe, the King of all kings, and the Savior of the world?

In reviewing the time that you spend on worshiping, how are you doing this? Are you rushing through praying, or just going through the motions? Do you fall asleep while praying or when reading the Bible? Is there some sin in your life that is distracting you when you worship Him?

Let us take a second and think of why we worship Him…

The above titles are just a few of the reasons… He is the Maker of all and holds your life in His hands. From the heavens to the earth, to the stars to the ocean, from all life, and for all that you see, God created them all. In addition to that He is the King of kings… no other god or king will ever compare to God, Himself, since He is the Ruler of all things.

Now in earthly terms… how would you approach an earthly king? What about the President or Prime Minister? With respect, you would think… with the way that you act, and say or do… what more of the way you would approach the High King of heaven?

In Hebrews 12:28-29 (NIV) it says,

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

If you think about it, casually approaching God, without that lack of reverence, is pretty disrespectful and He is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise!!!

This is just a brief overview of what will be covered on this Blog.

Over the course of this topic, these questions will be more discussed

Who are we worshiping?
What is worship?
Why do we worship?
How do we worship?
When do we worship?

To Truly Worship

As the top verse in John describes what the "Father" is seeking...

For Christians... this is something that we should be striving to do or be. This blog will try to help in this area, by addressing topics of "worship" relevant to the modern day church.
